The Best Continuing Education Opportunities for Mental Health Professionals

Mental health professionals are committed to lifelong learning. Staying informed about new research, treatment modalities, and evolving clinical practices is crucial to providing effective care. However, with demanding schedules and heavy caseloads, finding quality continuing education can be challenging. One significant advantage of working with a large mental and behavioral healthcare company like LifeStance is its simplified approach to offering accessible and broad continuing education tailored specifically for mental health professionals.

LifeStance prioritizes clinician professional growth by providing a wide array of live clinical education programming. These interactive, peer-to-peer learning sessions, each lasting approximately 60 minutes, are developed by the Clinical Leadership Team and facilitated by internal LifeStance clinicians. This peer-focused approach encourages meaningful interactions and collaborative discussions and offers Continuing Education (CE) credits for live participation.

LifeStance prioritizes clinician professional growth by providing a wide array of live clinical education programming.

LifeStance’s clinical education opportunities include three main formats:

Grand Rounds

  • Multidisciplinary presentations featuring some of the latest research, clinical insights, and innovative treatments in mental healthcare. These sessions typically involve expert presentations, case studies, and interactive Q&A segments.

Didactics

  • Discipline-specific educational sessions aimed at enhancing knowledge and skills in psychotherapy, psychiatry, psychological and neuropsychological testing, and more. These lectures address key clinical care topics relevant to everyday practice.

Journal Club

  • Interactive group discussions centered around recent and impactful mental health research publications. These sessions aim to strengthen critical thinking skills and apply evidence-based research directly to clinical practice.

Topics covered in these programs are diverse and relevant, addressing areas such as ADHD assessment and treatment, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), trauma-informed care, Expressive Arts Therapy, and specialized support for LGBTQIA+ youth, among other critical issues.

Madison Artist, Director of Learning and Development at LifeStance, highlights the organization’s dedication to excellence:

“Our Chief Medical Officer Ujjwal Ramtekkar challenged me when I started that he wanted to build the ‘gold standard’ of clinical education programs, and I’ve really taken that to heart in my approach to what we develop and how we partner with our Clinical Education Team. Clinical education isn’t all we’re doing though! We have a huge focus this year on LifeStance’s first-ever leadership development courses and role-specific training for our largest groups like Practice Group Managers (PGMs) and Practice Coordinators (PCs).”

Clinicians can easily join these educational sessions via Microsoft Teams. Session recordings are typically made available for later viewing, but CE credits are only provided for live session attendance.

Continuing education is integral to maintaining clinical excellence and staying current with mental healthcare advancements. LifeStance’s structured and accessible educational offerings empower clinicians to continuously grow and enhance the quality of care they provide to their patients.
